(Internet \u2013 Books \u2013 Articles in newspapers and magazines \u2013 Informative TV shows \u2013 Written communication \u2013 Telephone Support). However, the information and advice provided in these ways rarely consider the specific needs and characteristics of the family, the parent and the child.<\/p>\n<p>Parental counseling provided by mental health professionals is the best way to support <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"By the term parenting we denote anything that parents do or don\u2019t do in everyday life. Their behaviors, their beliefs, their emotions, their values and their attitudes. Parents\u2019 behaviors and the way that the expression of their parenting is affected by many factors such as their personality, the quality of the relationship with their partner, the characteristics of the child or the children themselves, as well as from  the stressors of everyday life. It is a procedure through which parents promote the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of the child, from infancy to adulthood and even after that! It can affect the child either in a positive or in a negative way, depending on the practices employed. In order for the parenting to be efficient, parents should be adaptive, sensitive, flexible and perceptive towards the child. Such skills can be learned.\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">parenting<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0and to provide targeted information about upbringing issues, answering questions that often confuse parents, such as: \u00a0How long should a child play electronic games? How long should he\/she watch tv? When does anxiety need an intervention? How can you handle a death in the family, a divorce or an upcoming big change in the family like moving houses? When and how could you tell your child that he\/she is adopted? How can you answer questions of sexual nature? When and how should you provide sound sexual education? etc<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>ultimate goal<\/strong> of parental counseling is to aid the parents in their role and help them to cultivate a meaningful relationship with their children. Parents learn to use the new knowledge and skills even after the end of the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>Parental counseling can take place either on a personal or on a group level. In group parental counseling each group consists of 5 to 10 parents of children of similar age. Groups of parents of children aged 1-6, 6-12 and 12-18 are formed.
